Body Waxing

Why is waxing better than shaving?

Alright, let’s have a chat about hair removal. Not many people chat about their preferred way to rid themselves of those pesky hairs, but it’s not taboo, we all grow it…But let’s talk about ways we can remove it (IF we want to, if not…Then I guess you can just enjoy these bits of information)

Let’s break down the two most popular methods of hair removal; Waxing and shaving. Mostly, It comes down to personal preference, but the biggest difference is the results you can achieve. Both methods are only temporary, but waxing does last a LOT longer! Shaving can be convenient, it only takes a minute or two but your hair can start to grow back immediately, leaving you with stubby, itchy hair the very next day. Waxing, however, can keep your skin baby smooth for weeks (depending on your hair growth!) as it pulls out the root of the hair, which makes it harder to grow back.

We all heard from our Mum and Aunties alike, that if we shave using a razor, it can make the hair grow back thicker and fuller, and while that isn’t always the case, it can happen! Waxing is the total opposite of this, with the hair that has been waxed, growing considerably sparser, with a thinner – less coarse texture.

Do you have sensitive skin?

Shaving can make it worse! Shaving can often cause ingrown hairs (Ingrown hair occurs when a hair that’s been removed starts to grow back and curves into the skin) razor burn or dry out the skin. Waxing is suitable for sensitive skin (Make sure you let your beautician know that you have sensitive skin before you start your waxing appointment, so they can tailor the wax they will use for your skin type!) Waxing also works like an exfoliator, and your skin will feel and look much smoother, as it removes the dead skin cells as well as your hair!

‘But waxing hurts!’ we hear you say…

Well, it doesn’t tickle, but it’s not that bad. It can sting a little more in more sensitive areas of the body such as your bikini line, under arms and upper lip, but it only lasts a second.

Leave it to the professionals!

Plus, when you choose to wax over shaving, you leave it in the hands of well-trained professionals. They can see spots you might miss with your razor in the shower (While you are awkwardly standing on one leg, trying to not slip over and break a bone). Turn your waxing day into a pamper session, and add on a few other treatments. It’s a great way to treat yourself and relax, plus you deserve it!

Can you tell which method of hair removal we prefer? You guessed it, we love waxing!

Golden rules of Waxing:

Want to book a wax with us? Remember the golden rules of waxing: grow out that hair! For the best results, your hair should be ¼ of an inch long at least. Also, try not to sunbathe for 24 – 48 hours before you come in for your wax. It might cause more discomfort as your skin might be more sensitive during this time. If you are sunburned, rearrange your waxing appointment till your skin has healed. Try not to exfoliate for 48 hours before your appointment, and don’t apply any moisturiser on the day of your wax. This might affect the way the wax adheres to the hair. Also, try not to shave in between your waxing appointments, it can lead to itching and ingrown hairs (everything we are eliminating by waxing in the first place!)

And most importantly…Remember to share with us what are allergic to, or if you have had any reactions to waxing products in the past.

We can’t wait for you to come in and see us!
