Eyelash extensions can change your life. Gone are the days of piling on mascara, scrubbing at your eyes trying to remove that mascara… Eyelash extensions are beautiful, addictive, and oh so worth it!
It’s never too soon to learn how to look after them, so here are lash extensions care tips to ensure your lashes look the best they can at all times.
Lash Extensions Care
Avoid getting your eyelash extensions wet
After your appointment with our fully qualified Eyelash Technicians, try not to touch your eyes for at least 3 hours. I know, resisting that urge will be difficult, but beauty is pain, ladies. While we’re on the topic, try not to get them wet either. Water will cause the bond between your natural lashes and your extensions to become brittle, and this might cause the bond to break or snap. No one likes wonky lashes, so it’s best to avoid water, heat, steam, and spray tans. As difficult as this sounds, you can skip the gym for the day guilt-free!
How do I clean my eyelash extensions?
Do I have to clean my Eyelash extensions? I thought I couldn’t get them wet?! After 24 hours has passed, you must clean your extensions regularly to avoid gunk building up within your natural lashes and your extensions. Oils, makeup, and other nasties can build up, causing pressure on your extensions to break the bond to your natural lashes or cause premature shedding. You can use water, a gentle oil-free cleanser, and a soft-bristled brush to clean them safely and gently. We love using the Locks Lash Foaming Lash Cleanser for this, and the brush that is supplied. Once your lashes have dried remember to brush out your lashes and using a clean mascara brush, which you can pick up at your appointment.
Eye health is super important, and with your extensions on it’s harder to maintain this, so it’s really important to clean them at least once a day, or after wearing makeup!
Mascara on top of my extensions?
The temptation to put on some mascara to top up the volume of your lashes between refills is there, don’t lie to me! But please, don’t do this! Mascara can get caught between your lashes and any build-up, which is extremely hard to clean might ruin your lovely lashes. Plus, remember that eye health we talked about? You’re risking that too!
However, if you want to keep your lashes looking fuller for longer, you can use our little secret… Max2Lash Sealant throughout the weeks till your next lash appointment will keep your lashes looking luscious, full, and all-around stunning. This helps feed your natural lashes the essential nutrients they need and helps retention, plus it’s oil-free and extension-safe.
